Black Salt Sheen

This is a bit of a delayed review, but I wanted to thank Harish and Jowet for being super accommodating when we came to eat at the Black Salt for the first time (September!). It was my dad’s 60th birthday and they were kind enough to help me bring out a surprise birthday cake out at the end of the meal! The food was so delicious, high quality Indian cuisine. I would definitely go back. Really lovely staff once again, we had a wonderful evening there!

This is one of the best restaurants we have been to in London. The staff were lovely and the food was absolutely fantastic. The use of spices was incredible, if you order the potatoes (Aloo Tuk) you will spend the entire meal trying to figure out what they are seasoned with. Absolute magic. Do yourself a favour and get yourself here, you won’t be disappointed.

A couple of years ago my husband and I enjoyed one of the best Indian meals of our lives at Dastaan in Epsom, an unassuming restaurant on a parade off a dual carriageway that just happened to have ex-Gymkhana chefs behind it. So when I discovered Black Salt, a "side project" of said Indian culinary royalty and an ex-Atul Kochhar chef (according to Jay Rayner), I immediately contrived a reason that my regular meal with some friends just had to be there. And of course it was nothing short of excellent. The restaurant is informal, buzzing and warm. The service friendly and efficient. And the menu is familiar but executed exceptionally. "Everything from the Tandoori Starters menu is great", one of my dining companions accurately recommended (though the Channa Papdi Chaat was secretly my favourite of all the appetisers we ordered). For main, the Saag Gosht was delicious but it's the Malvani Fish Curry that I'll be thinking about days from now - sweet but spicy, like the hybrid tikka masala and korma you never knew you needed until it came into your life. Whenever I see Pistachio Kulfi on the menu there's no way I'm not ordering it, and it proved to be the right choice. The perfect finish to a wonderful midweek dinner. Now I'll just have to come back so my husband can experience it too

The whole dining experience was incredible! I am visiting the UK from the states and planned to come here since it had incredible reviews and was within walking distance of my room at the Victoria. They went above and beyond all my expectations! Black Salt had the BEST Tikka masala (I ordered the paneer) that I've had in my whole life! The rice was incredible and the garlic naan was so fresh! I had a genuine and delightful conversation with both the gentleman working. They were attentive and considerate. You won't regret coming in for a meal and if I lived in the area I'd eat here all the time!

Had a great dinner experience at Black Salt with my friends! It’s a lovely Indian restaurant with amazing service. The staff was fantastic—especially the one who served us. Super friendly, and I have to say, his moustache was iconic! Definitely planning to visit again soon and catch up with Kanesh there. Highly recommend if you’re looking for good vibes and great food!

Very good quality, tasty food. Not greasy at all. I like how the menu isn’t huge, it’s quality over quantity. Samosa chaat is to die for. The decor is fantastic, very grown up and smart. One of the best India’s I’ve had in a while.

Wonderful restaurant. Went there for lunch on Saturday. The food was delicious, well seasoned and the spices fresh to taste. I had Gobi for starters and rice with chana masala as my main, followed by a refreshing cup of mint tea. The staff were very friendly and courteous. Highly recommend.
